We are completely dismayed and angry to have to have cancelled this September’s Black Veil. We arrived to find that the venue had double booked the main room, which we use, in which there was being held a free alcohol promotion. This is the third occasion this year we have had to unexpectedly move room. This would have created a problem as we didn’t have the correct equipment to use in the smaller room.

On the two preceding occasions we were given some notice and were able to take the correct equipment.

We tried to gain access to the alternative room nevertheless but not only were the stairways impassable with drunken people, the corridors, access and fire escape equally inaccessible, but also that room too was also full of people.. There was no way that we could have safely got ourselves and our equipment for the night into the premises. Also we had to consider the ongoing safety and wellbeing of ourselves and the people coming to Black Veil due to the inebriated and unruly crowd. We witnessed people being carried out and glasses being thrown outside the venue.

We tried to find an alternative local venue but at such short notice this was not feasible. We left a cancellation notice with the venue who promised to display it but we have heard subsequently that some people were being told to go up to the alternate room for Black Veil.

We contacted all those for whom we had contact numbers and sincerely apologise to all those who, like ourselves will have had a wasted evening. In the circumstances we do not envisage using this venue again.

We hope to announce shortly an alternative venue where Black Veil can continue. Once again we apologise to all those who have been seriously inconvenienced, especially those of you whom we know were travelling from far afield.
