Psydoll Throught the Spyglass Tour

Tuesday 6th October 2009 11:18 pm

Japanese psyborgs PSYDOLL return from their workshop in Tokyo, having spent the last couple of years since their last UK tour perfecting and recording the new album “10 Spyglasses”. Digital percussionist Uenoyama and guitar-robot Ucchi join forces with keytar-wielding vocalist Nekoi to create punked-up industrial rock wizzed through a manga blender. Post-apocalyptic calls-to-arms and cautionary fairytales, all through the eyes of a confused, half-organic/half-robotic bunch of crazies. Magic stuff. Like Bladerunner gone a bit ‘wrong’.

BLACK VEIL SAT 3RD OCT ** Newsflash*** ASPMANIA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday 19th September 2009 1:03 am

We can confirm that in addition to the goodies already mentioned we will be hosting a UK exclusive release party celebrating 10 years of Germany’s top gOthic rock band ASP! There will be singles and tour shirts from their forthcoming tour in Germany to be won!!

Also needless to say DJ De’Ath with have a full arsenal of ASP albums with him so you will be able to request as many ASP tracks as you want on the night:)))

Please spread the news and we can’t rule out one further surprise so keep your bones crossed (;-#) X

****************************

New ASP single will be released on 2nd October 2009.
For ten years now, ASP have maintained their hold in the ever-changing music business and have provided lovers of ambitious, superior-quality German-language music with one milestone after another. For a long time, their `gothic novel rock’ has been highly regarded across all scene boundaries and many of their releases demonstrate why fans today still want to acquire music in a physical format: because ASP present them with total works of art, both musically and visually. And so it is now, with the new ASP release.

`Wer Sonst?’/`Im Märchenland’ is a ‘double A side’ single with two incredibly strong title tracks and a multitude of fantastic bonus material. In terms of its presentation, even the standard version surpasses the limited editions of so many other bands: eight audio tracks, a live video of one of the single songs and a twelve page booklet packaged in a six-panelled digipak which features two alternative covers – one on both the front and back of the digipak, representing each of the main single tracks.

For the limited deluxe special edition, ASP have once again thought up something quite special: instead of recording a video, the band from Frankfurt deliver a genuine comic book which is based on an original script from ASP mastermind AF Spreng and which is brilliantly realised by legendary illustrator Ingo Römling. A fantastic adventure to kick off a new comic series from AF Spreng, which is teeming with literary allusions and good-natured homages. An intelligent action adventure!

42-page comic book in the popular format of 17 x 25 cm (approx) Hardback High-grade art print on high-quality art paper Special matt lamination on all printed parts. Both the standard and the limited editions contain the single versions of the new anthems `Wer Sonst?’ and `Im Märchenland’. For the former, you are treated to a duet with no less than Das letzte Einhorn from In Extremo!

Additionally, there are two grandiose cover versions of songs by Trio and The Cult, two remixes from Project Pitchfork and Clan of Xymox, the album version of `Wer Sonst?’ and an extravagantly produced live video recorded at the Blackfield Festival, where ASP demonstrated their strength when they headlined there a few months ago.

BLACK VEIL@ The Wellington Wellington St Leeds Sat 3rd October 2009

Thursday 17th September 2009 11:03 pm

There will be a triple CD release party thanks to the excellent Shinto Records.

Copies of the following CD’s can be won

Verney 1826 – Nebelland

The German project Verney 1826 can be dated back to the year 1991. Influenced
from the beginning by classical music, the gothic tales of Mrs Shelley and the
beauty of long forgotten times. Music for the bleak hours of the night: Quiet,
dark, fragile.

OverThow Music States:

“Tolling bells, Gregorian chants, waves of soft synths, the sound of cavernous
drums…Verney 1826 places you in a thought provoking atmosphere with a chilling
sense of otherworldly presence. There is something almost spiritual about them
as rhythms and pulses form a tribal like incantation at times, while other
moments are stripped down to a minimalistic dream and lull you into a melancholy
haze.”

Scarlet Slipping – Hound

“Scarlet Slipping rests somewhere in the mists between shoegaze acts like La
Floa Maldita and Tearwave while retaining the cold and edgy strains of
depressive illusions ala Lycia.”

“In the cold and largely wild landscapes of Minnesota, it’s no surprise that a
chilling and animalistic album like Hound could be realized and unleashed upon
the world.”

“Musically, this album ranks amongst the best in the ethereal genre. It doesn’t
simply use effects as a disguise, rather, the music itself is the effect, and
the listener is the instrument, running the gauntlet of emotions expressed
throughout.”

Lunar Sea- Various

This release has to be the most dark and delicious Gothic sampler release of
exciting new bands in the scene so far in 2009. Shinto records is the most
exciting label to hit the scene since Strobelight records!!! -DJD

Verney 1826 – Lionel
Life’s Decay – Valensky
Vidi Aquam – Talk Talk
The Spiritual Bat – In The Golden Cage (vocal mix)
Asylum XIII – Excommunication
Defekt86 – Nur Ein Schritt
Sullen Serenade – Lowlands
Buried Birds – Circles
Suicide Echoes – Grate For Menneskeheten
Weltenbrand – The Ghost Of New Years Eve
Bella Lune – Transmissions
White Shadow – Deviant
My Beloved Death – The Saint Liar
Realgar – Finis
Lia Fail – Stop Crying (night version)
Fright Night – The Summon
Scarlet Slipping – Light Invades
Mysterian – These Shattered Remains
Sur Lune – Disconnected (Pulling Off Your Wings)
Tiffany Apan – Ghost

Follow the link below to hear samples of the tracks

If that wasn’t enough there should be a couple of other surprises to be revealed
shortly which should make this a very special Black Veil indeed

DJ Tomas from Leeds Gothic Society will also be joining De’Ath on the decks.

You will also be able to purchase tickets for only £10 for The Cruxshadows +
Zetigeist Zero gig @ the Cockpit on Sunday 29th November

BEYOND THE VEIL suspended

Thursday 10th September 2009 10:48 pm

Beyond The Veil will not take place in 2010 as we have been unable to secure
a suitable and affordable headline act + the correct mix of bands for the
line-up to warrant spending 9 Months of our time dedicated to preparing and
putting on a totally self -funded independent festival.

We have have set a high standard for putting on new, exciting and exotic
international Gothic acts which has helped build up the reputation of BTV.
So rather than put together a mediocre and lacklustre line-up to the
detriment of the festival’s standing we have decided to suspend BTV.
